Want to learn what goes on behind the scenes in implementing water purification technology to provide a safe, reliable and sustainable drinking water supply? Join us for a tour of the City of San Diego’s North City Pure Water Facility and learn about San Diego’s water supply challenges and how water purification can provide a reliable, sustainable and cost-effective drinking water supply for San Diego.
Pure Water San Diego is the City’s phased, multi-year program that uses proven water purification technology to clean recycled water to produce safe, reliable, high-quality water. North City Pure Water Facility is scheduled to produce 30 million gallons of purified water per day beginning in 2021. By 2035, San Diego will produce 83 million gallons of purified water per day, which is 1/3 of San Diego’s future water supply needs.
Tour: Participants will engage in a guided walking tour of the Pure Water Facility. The tour, including a presentation, will last approximately one hour. Participants are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes before their registered tour time.
Attire: All participants should wear closed-toe, low-heel, walking shoes. A portion of the tour will take place outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Long pants are recommended.
To bring: Photo identification (such as a driver’s license), sunglasses and an umbrella (if needed).

Location: The Pure Water Facility is located at the North City Water Reclamation Plant, 4949 Eastgate Mall, San Diego, 92121.
Transportation: Transportation to the Water Facility will not be provided. MMASC will facilitate carpooling opportunities as availability and space allows.
Parking: Free parking is available at the facility. Please follow the parking lot signs. Carpooling is recommended due to limited parking availability.
